ENCORE: Uncovering Psychological Roadblocks to Healing Back Pain, Part 1
March 26, 2024
Dr. John Sarno revolutionized medicine’s approach to back pain with his book, "The Divided Mind," in the 1980s. His thesis is that conventional therapies like surgery are over-utilized and don’t get to the root of the problem which is TMS—tension myoneural syndrome. Dr. Sarno died in 2017, but his disciple Dr. Ira Rashbaum carries on his work at NYU Langone’s Rusk Rehabilitation. The method pioneered by Sarno eschews even physical therapy, chiropractic and acupuncture, and instead focuses on uncovering psychological roadblocks to recovery. Dr. Rashbaum explains how stress literally robs aching muscles of oxygen and nutrients essential for pain resolution. Dr. Sarno was beloved by patients—including many celebrities—but reviled by many of his colleagues because he challenged medical orthodoxy which invariably treats pain as the consequence of fixable structural abnormalities. Followers of Dr. Sarno like Dr. Rashbaum argue that structural changes are normal, and not always the culprit lesions that trigger pain. Dr. Rashbaum reveals that the Sarno method works to alleviate many common syndromes, including headaches, TMJ, tinnitus, and IBS. Click HERE for part 2.

ENCORE: Successfully Challenging Cancer, Part 1
March 20, 2024
Turkish MD Dr. Sarper Diler joins us for a discussion of The Gonzalez Protocol®. Dr. Diler is Chairman of the Nicholas Gonzalez Foundation Scientific Advisory Board, whose goal is to perpetuate the legacy of the late Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, and make his unique therapies available to patients. Dr. Gonzalez was renowned for his ability to promote survival of challenging cancer patients using a highly personalized approach. The Gonzalez Protocol consists of custom diet recommendations based on Metabolic Typing. Diets run the gamut from vegan to carnivore, with some people intermediate, based on their metabolic type. Patients are required to consume high levels of pancreatic enzymes and other supplements, and perform daily detoxification procedures, including coffee enemas—it’s not for the faint-hearted or ambivalent. Dr. Gonzalez achieved success with many challenging cancers, and also treated other medical conditions, and documented his methods in voluminous case studies. The Nicholas Gonzalez Foundation has undertaken educating and certifying doctors worldwide to sustain his work. For those with less challenging medical conditions desirous of obtaining metabolic typing and diet suggestions without physician supervision, a low-cost option is available by clicking HERE. Mitochondria: The Energy Powerhouses of our Cells, Part 1
March 12, 2024
Today’s episode is a deep-dive on the mitochondria with a focus on the importance of free radical modification of cellular membranes. Membranes are the key to cellular aging. As we get older, the membranes in our cells accumulate damage caused by oxidative stress and other outside forces that result in the loss of mitochondrial function that can produce disease states, subjective fatigue, and have a direct bearing on aging. One of the nine pillars of aging is the deterioration of the mitochondria, the energy powerhouses of our cells. John Casey, co-founder and CEO of Nutritional Therapeutics, details how NTFactor® repairs membrane damage by replacing damaged, oxidized phospholipids with healthy, unoxidized phospholipids and returns cellular membranes to healthy function, reducing fatigue, repairing cellular damage, and reversing the effects of aging. Click HERE for part 2.
