Leyla Muedin, MS, RD, CDN
Leyla has been a practicing nutritionist since 2003, when she started under the tutelage of the famed Dr. Robert Atkins at the Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine. Since 2005, she has worked alongside Dr. Hoffman at the Hoffman Center and then in private practice.
Currently, she takes patients for both telehealth and in-person appointments. Prospective patients can contact Leyla’s office via phone (212-779-1744) for a new patient screening.
From the beginning of her career, Leyla has always practiced integrative nutrition in a clinical setting. As an educator, she developed the Hoffman Center Lecture Series in 2007 which featured health and nutrition information for laypeople and practitioners alike. In 2011, in collaboration with Dr. Hoffman, Leyla developed the Clinical Nutrition Series for the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), teaching nutritional medicine to practitioners from all modalities.
After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Food Science in 2004 at Hunter College, she went on to complete her master’s degree in Nutrition and Exercise at Queens College in 2007. Leyla’s articles have been featured on the Alliance for Natural Health and she has contributed written works for Psychology Today where she also maintained a blog called Intelligent Nutrition.
In 2013, the Intelligent Medicine Newsletter was launched, an online publication that she contributes to and edits to this day. And soon after contributing to the weekly Intelligent Medicine podcast, Q & A with Leyla, she launched her very own Leyla Weighs In weekly podcast.
As a medical nutrition therapist, Leyla is a staunch believer in the power of medical nutrition therapy in wellness and healing throughout the lifecycle. She’s an omnivore enjoying a whole foods diet that’s lower in carbohydrates. And while dispensing exercise “prescriptions” to her patients as an important part of her practice, she herself enjoys yoga and strength training.
Leyla and her husband Paul split their time between New York City and out east where Leyla enjoys the beach and relishes Forest Bathing (Shinrin-yoku) in the nature preserve beyond their backyard.
Listen to Leyla’s weekly podcasts: Q&A with Leyla, where she joins Dr. Hoffman, and Leyla Weighs In, a closer look at a different topic every Friday.
