America is facing an unprecedented crisis. Our productivity, national security, and fiscal solvency are being undermined by epidemics of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, GI illnesses, and autoimmunity. Psychiatric disorders are steeply rising. Our vulnerability to infectious pandemics was highlighted by Covid, which preferentially targeted people with “comorbidities”.

As devotees of Intelligent Medicine, I’m sure you agree that poor nutrition is at the root of many of these problems. Yet few healthcare professionals have the knowledge and experience to stem the tide of diet-related diseases.

My organization, the American Nutrition Association, is at the vanguard of the fight to put nutrition front and center within US healthcare. As Chair of the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists, I’m part of an effort to train CNS candidates to effect positive change.

2024 is going to be a big year for the American Nutrition Association. We are committing to protecting the right to see a Certified Nutrition Specialist in the 42 states that allow it and defending the right to continue to see a CNS in 3 states in which we know there will be challenges. And finally, working to expand rights in the 8 states we don’t have access to, starting in Ohio.
