Metabolic Approaches to Cancer Treatment, Part 1
May 10, 2016
What happens when you combine two innovative therapies: ketogenic diet and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)? Dr. Dominic D’Agostino, a pioneer in research on the combined effects of diet and HBOT describes his work with wound healing, seizure disorders and other neurological diseases, and cancer. How does a high-fat, very low carb ketogenic diet make the brain work more efficiently? Why does the same diet “starve” cancer cells? Why does too much protein interfere with the benefits of the ketogenic diet? Isn’t all that fat dangerous? What does hyperbaric oxygen do to cells? Why does the brain do better with fat than with sugar as a fuel? Why are normal cells revved by high oxygen concentrations, while cancer cells self-destruct? How could a ketogenic diet plus HBOT offer a one-two punch against cancer? Where are we with human trials of this innovative strategy? Is this a stand-alone approach to cancer, or might it be preferable as an adjunct to other conventional cancer therapies? Dr. D’Agostino is currently exploring ways to boost the efficacy of the ketogenic diet with certain nutritional supplements and/or medications. Click HERE for part 2.
